Life’s full of weird experiences…things that you expect the least happen often. What I’m about to tell you definitely will prove that..
I was coming back home from Mumbai. Got off the Tapovan at 10 am and walked outside the Nasik Road station to a rickshaw stand.
Wearing my sports pyjamas, sleevless tee and nike shoes, carrying a red hand bag and a back-pack I asked, “College Road….jaoge?“.
He gave a long stare (the top to bottom one) and said “Rs 150..chaloge?“. The dude just thought as if I’ve come to India for the first time and don’t know what it costs me.
“Bhaiyya..hum nasik mein naye nahin..college road par rehte hain..American lag rahe hain kya?“, I tried to convince him that I live here…Stop fooling me!
“Thike hain bhai, Rs 75…chalo“, he said still unconvinced about my identity and disappointed on loosing a bait. I jumped in…put my red bag on the seat and sat comfortably. The rick took a sharp 180 degree turn to put itself in the right path. Travelling just 50 meters I heard people shout out “BAG! BAG!…thamba hoooo…!!”. The rick came to a screeching stop.
I got out and ran back to the spot where the rick took off. The man held my red bag high as if I had made a blunder, expecting to have a laugh on it. I simply said, “Thanks!” and left with the bag. Gave a small sprint back to my rick. But before I could reach there, the guy had his chance
“Kya re Shahrukh bag ka khayal toh rakh…“, said that guy and some one else shouted “Arre Hrithik dress bhaari hai tera“. I was amazed at how much a casual dress could attract as comments. I kept smiling all the way..(obviously not because they called me some Bollywood actor names) at the way people think. These kind of comments must be coming out of their mouths so comfortably everytime something close to a modern look is seen by them.
heyy akshat..really good narration.. hehehhe…well,u shud be glad..they are using actors name not the political ones..!!
Keep up the good work.. its fun to read ur blogs!
haaaa…belivee mee! i know what that feels like!!!
